About the CowParade
CowParade is the largest and most recognized public art event in the world. CowParade exhibits, held in 75 cities in 30 countries on six continents to date, have produced more than 5,000 of the signature cow canvases by local artists. The exhibits have been viewed by upwards of one half billion of the global population. In the coming year, another 1,000 or more art cows will be created by new artists domestically for Austin, Philadelphia, Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill and internationally in Porto Alegre (Brazil), Panama City, Nicosia (Cyprus), Verona (Italy) and Shanghai.
Partnering with the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, CowParade Austin included 74 sculptures.
The first CowParade exhibit was staged in Chicago in 1999 with 340 cow installations displayed principally along Michigan Avenue. Following the New York exhibit the next year, the CowParade went global, helping to establish CowParade’s international profile and resulted in numerous event inquiries from cities in this country and elsewhere around the world. The rest is history.
